After finishing our most recent Southern Girl Travel Guide to Sandals Resorts (this time we featured Sandals Negril) we realized that we failed to mention two great Sandals features:

Swim Up Suites

and

Candlelight Dinners

Before that, though, we’ve got a special announcement.  Jennifer will be hosting Southern Girl Travel’s first ever live event – it’s called A Caribbean Night: Fun Included. Check out the Facebook Event page, and stay tuned for more info.

Sandals is famous in the travel business for having a dizzying array of room types at each resort. Swim Up Suites may be the most unique of all the types.

The name is pretty self explanatory; we’ll let the photos do most of the talking.

Swim Up Suites are just that – luxury accommodations where you room opens onto a patio area that descends immediately into a private or ‘semi-private pool area.

Not all Sandals Resort have Swim Up Suites (though Sandals Negril does), so don’t hesitate to contact us with questions about which resorts include this unique room type.

If you stroll around a Sandals Resort in the late afternoon, you’re sure to see the staff beginning to set up and decorate tables around the resort in certain spots: near the water along the beach, on those gazebos around the resort, on room balconies and patios.

As the sun sets these tables light up like lanterns around the resorts, and represent one of the add-ons we often recommend: Candlelight Dinners.

We’ve talked at length about how nearly everything really is included in Sandals’ definition of All-Inclusive, and we’ve checked out from a wonderful week’s stay without a single additional charge.

Occasionally adding something extra can be that special element that simply makes the trip.

Candlelight Dinners are the perfect choice.

Sandals’ own website describes Candlelight Dinners as the perfect way to:

Have a sunset dinner under the stars served by a waiter in white gloves, on a table specially decorated with tropical floral arrangements and candle lights. Only a very limited number of seatings are available each evening at each resort.

Enjoy a romantic dinner under the stars in some of the most breathtaking locals on the island. Your four-course gourmet meal is served by a private waiter, and is accompanied by your choice of sparkling wine. The personalized menu caters to every kind of dietary requirement.

From the secluded privacy of your suite’s terrace to charming gazebos perched on a pier overlooking azure waters to white-sand beaches lapped by gentle waves—there are plenty of gorgeous settings to indulge in a delicious meal for two.

Your table is specially decorated with crisp linens, tropical floral arrangements and candle lights, adding an elegant touch to your romantic dining experience.

Enjoy the full VIP treatment with a dedicated private waiter who will cater to your every culinary whim, including suggesting the ideal wine to complement your meal and ensuring that your gourmet meal is perfectly prepared and artfully presented.

Prices for Candlelight Dinners normally start just under $200, but occasionally Sandals will include one as a special offer for guests.

Give us a call or drop us an email and we’ll tell you all about it.

And never forget to:

Relax…you CAN get there from here!
