Recently, we spoke about the importance of having a passport when traveling internationally, even if you don’t absolutely have to have one.
As we mentioned then, getting a passport can be a bit of a hassle.
Part of that hassle is that in nearly all circumstances you must show up in person to apply for a passport.
Show up where?
An excellent and reasonable question!
Alamance County has two locations that can accept a passport application.
1. The first is the Alamance County Passport Services Office located at 217 College Street, Room 107, Graham, NC 27253. The Office’s phone is 336–570–4160.
In the past, they have been open from Monday through Friday 8:30am until 3:30pm with a daily two-hour closure between 11:30am and 1:30pm. We recommend calling before you drop by though, just to confirm.
Make sure to check out the Office’s website as it actually has some decent information about getting your passport – way to go Alamance County Government!
Note – they do not take passport photos at this location.
2. The second spot to apply for a passport in Alamance County is the U.S. Post Office in Elon, located at 105 S Williamson Ave, Elon, NC 27244.
The Elon Post Office’s phone number is 336–584–5943.
They are open for passport services from 9:00am to 3:00pm Monday through Friday.
However, you must make an appointment to apply for a passport at this location. So give them a call before dropping by.
Be patient when dealing with passport issues.
Remember, this is the federal government of the U.S. – one of the largest bureaucracies that has existed on this planet.
They invented red tape.
The paper work is a little daunting and we’ve found that the folks who accept that paperwork have to deal with a ton of issues and can be understandably frazzled at times. Be understanding, and smile a lot.
Get that passport!
And don’t forget to:
