Does your family have a place you visit together every year?
Nothing seems to create a space for leisure quite the way an annual go-to destination can. It doesn’t have to be far away or fancy, simply a motel at the beach will do.
As we’ve written before, our family spends a week every year along North Carolina’s Crystal Coast in Atlantic Beach. It’s a family tradition, and we’ve managed to create some great memories over the years.

Photography is one of those memory creating methods. We snapped the shot above almost as an afterthought back in 2007.

We took the same shot again in 2010.
And yet again in 2011:
By 2012, taking the same shot of the kids a year later had become one of our family travel traditions.
2013!
If we didn’t return to the same spot every year, we would miss these memories.

The kids even tolerate the now routine photo session every year without question, and they often times get a serious case of the giggles.
